We have a professor that must be 70+ years old, and some douchebag student is shouting at him for getting a bad result in an exam.
Teacher: “Please don’t shout at me, I can also have an explosive character”
Student: “Oh you want to hear me shout you ass”
I don’t care who’s right, I just think that there must be a respect to the professor a respect to the concept of avoiding conflict.

A good professor is not going to hold this against that student...but its still a really stupid move to test that theory.

When a student starts getting argumentative over a grade, I just end the conversation. Yelling is pointless. The grade is the grade.

Hopefully, even if the teacher is wrong, shouting is deeply unnecessary

Because they’re old, and I’m reliably told that old people have bad takes

It really isn’t about his age, its about civility. The fact that they shouted at each other alone warrants mediation by the student’s services office

Maybe even double secret probation.

I hope so, I really don’t want to see these shouting matches two more times. My ears are sensitive to bullshit

I don’t know the situation but there are some bad teachers out there.
Once I had a teacher who would assign homework every week, which is no problem. The problem that arose is that there would be one question, on the series of 10-20 questions, on material that we didn’t cover. No one ever got that question right and his fucked up grading meant you got a zero for homework. After about the third time, I confronted him in front of the class because everyone was frustrated with it. He said ‘is what it is’; or something to that effect. So I got up and walked out of class. My friend said it was pretty awkward the remainder of the class. The following week he changed his grading policy to a normal policy, only marking off 5/10pts (or whatever the weight was) for getting the one answer wrong. It was still bullshit that we got penalized but it was better than a zero.

They student is arguing that the exam wasn’t clearly explained. It was clearly explained. everyone passed except him.
He then claimed his answer was justified, then the teacher spent 10 minutes explaining he was wrong because he made a series of assumptions( ie: student got lucky got the right answer but the procedure was wrong )

There are some bad teachers, and sometimes teachers that are just teaching badly. What you look at is the class performance statistics as a whole. If everyone is performing below expectations, you as a teacher have to reexamine how you are teaching the content, because you are likely not getting through what you intend (or you are not assessing properly) . Some teachers will not do that and blame the students instead. For those, the remedy is to go to administration and make a case.
Sometimes, like in this case, a student is an outlier, but the class as a whole is performing as expected. In such a case, you reach out to the student with help. If the student is not in a frame of mind to accept or seek help, there is little you can do.

The irony in my case was this was for an econ class and I was the president of the econ society. It got a bit awkward. I actually didn’t want to protest as I liked the guy, but it was an early class and I was just so fed up with getting a 0 for putting a lot of effort into the work.

Sometimes you just have to do something. Our daughter’s 7th grade science teacher seems to be having a problem getting through to the kids. I think he needs to change the way he is doing things. If he doesn’t figure it out quickly, we parents may need to talk to the principal. He may be a nice guy, but a problem still needs to be fixed. If he intends to be a good teacher, he will listen and work with us.

This reminds me of a fun incident when I was a student. A professor, who was generally liked, decided on a whim to adjust the grading curve upwards, when everyone performed well on an exam. He moved the A range up to 95%. I had a thought he might not make it out of there alive. He eventually relented.
